ALBAWABA - US President Joe Biden is blasted after announcing a one-time payment of $US770 for victims of the Los Angeles wildfire which killed 24 people.
Biden met with Vice President Kamala Harris and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, in addition to several other federal officials on Monday and announced the $770 aid for residents, who were affected by the wildfires.
Biden landed in hot water from people who were angered highlighting that the US government had announced only a few days ago (Jan. 9) a $50 million in military aid to Ukraine amid war with Russia.
An X user commented: "When comparing this amount to the contributions made to Ukraine from taxpayers, the numbers are vast. As of 2023, the U.S. government alone has allocated over $113 billion in aid to Ukraine."
Another said: "5,000 families get $750 per family = $37,50,000. Biden's gift to Americans who lost everything. $113 Billion so far and Joe wants $25 Billion more for Ukraine."
A person mocked the aid saying: "$770 for fire victims? A slap in the face would’ve been cheaper."
Moreover, netizen posted on X platform: "Joe Biden just announced a ONE TIME payment of $770 for those who lost EVERYTHING in the California wildfires. His administration just announced BILLIONS in funding to Ukraine, and this is what he announces for Californians? Absolutely disgusting!"
It is worth highlighting that US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin announced on Jan. 9 that the Biden administration allocated a new $500 million military aid package for Ukraine.
According to the US Defense Secretary, the military aid package will include "additional missiles for Ukrainian air defence, more ammunition, more air-to-ground munitions and other equipment to support Ukraine's F-16s".
