youth education seminars for students who want to achieve

School pupils, university students and young professionals in the UAE will be given the opportunity to hear from a variety of seasoned educational experts at the first Youth Education Seminar (YES), which will be held at the NAJAH  Education, Training and Careers exhibition at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre on 4 November, 2007.

Hosted by IIR, these free seminars will provide the UAE’s next generation with a platform to exchange ideas and possible solutions to their education and career choices.

Professor Alan Patching will provide the first contribution, discussing the key components for achievement from goal setting and time management to understanding how to establish what is really important in life.  A ‘jack of all trades’, Alan has been an army officer, a jet pilot, a marathon kayaker, a triathlon runner, a professional speaker, a clinical hypnotherapist as well as being the man responsible for supervising the design and construction of the Sydney Olympic stadium.  He prides himself in knowing how to have a successful career while having fun in the process.

Mary Kobbe, an American from Southern Arkansas who has been teaching for more than 15 years in the United States and the UAE, will discuss the “Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens”.  Currently the Account manager of Education for FranklinCovey Middle East in Dubai, Mary will discuss the seven characteristics that happy and successful teens have in common.

Finally, Dr. Annette Ittig will address the audience, presenting Youth Economic Empowerment Initiatives in Afghanistan.  In this conflict-affected society, where an estimated 60 percent of the population is under 25, youth micro enterprise plays an important element in rebuilding communities.  Annette is a specialist working in emergency response and international developments in the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa and her examples will be very powerful to a youth audience.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for students in the UAE to be able to hear directly from these inspirational speakers and ask questions about their experiences” said Christine Weaver, Exhibitions Director for YES and NAJAH. “Interactive sessions such as the YES seminars are vital for young people to help shape their future.  In addition to high caliber speakers, visitors to NAJAH will have access to vital resources to help make decisions about higher education and careers.”

The Youth Education Seminar will be held on 4 November 2007 in the Abu Dhabi Convention Centre, UAE alongside the NAJAH exhibition which runs from 4-6 November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The event, which is supported by the Ministry of Education, NAPO, Abu Dhabi Education Council, Abu Dhabi Emiratisation Council and the Ministry for Labour, is expected to attract more than 6,000 visitors, including teachers, students, university deans, Ministry of Education personnel, HR managers and education professionals.

The Middle East HR Summit will be held along side Najah  from 4-8 November 2007 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The region’s premier annual conference and exhibition for human resource professionals features an even bigger programme in 2007 with a Pre-Summit Guru Day led by Professor Dave Ulrich, currently the world’s leading HR thinker.

More than 50 international and regional HR experts will share their expertise at the Summit which offers more than 25 information packed sessions, specialist streams, interactive workshops, a parallel exhibition and the highly respected Middle East HR Summit Excellence Awards Gala Dinner.
