Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak and his Yemeni counterpart Ali Abdallah Saleh Tuesday stressed their keenness on promoting relations between the two nations in the various fields.

They spoke during a joint press conference at the end of the two-day visit to Egypt by the Yemeni leader.

Mubarak said his talks with his Yemeni peer covered a number of issues, mainly the activation of the Arab League, pointing out to two initiatives in this respect by Egypt and Yemen which are almost similar.

Talks touched on the latest developments in the Middle East, the situation in Iraq and conditions in Afghanistan, he said, adding that the two sides share identical views regarding these issues.

President Saleh said talks covered the "security file" between Egypt and Yemen and the latest developments in the Palestinian territories. He stressed his nation's support for Egypt's attempts to settle the issue of the Palestinian factions.
