Agence France Presse reported Thursday that at least two Saudi soldiers were killed by unidentified gunmen on the Yemeni border.
According to KSA's interior ministry, the border guard patrol in Asir province "came under heavy gunfire on Wednesday morning from unknown sources inside Yemeni territory."
The militants and border guards then began to exchange gunfire, leading to the deaths of sergeant Abdulrazaq Al Qhamidi and soldier Mohammed Al Qahtani.
Saudi authorities are currently in communication with Yemeni counterparts to investigate the attack.
The Saudi-Yemen border is considered "porous," and is often used by smugglers as well as Islamists seeking to join Al Qaeda, according to the report.
