Yemen president ”accepts” public pressure and runs for another term

Yemen's President Ali Abdullah Saleh "accepted" to run for another term in September because of the massive public pressure on him to run for the upcoming presidential elections, Saba reported.

 

In his speech to soem 1.3 million supporters, who gathered in Al-Sabayeen Square in Sana'a City appealing him to reverse his earlier decision and run for September elections, president Saleh said that he complied with the people's pressure and their desire. "I will in run in the coming elections," Saleh said.

 

He added that he will continue his leadership for the country and will continue the development process and go on in building the modern state of Yemen together with all "honest" people. "I'm with you, I'm with you, I'm with you to deliver the ship of our nation to a safe harbor. We have to gather all our efforts and forces to build the future of our country," Saleh stated.

 

Meanwhile, the extraordinary meeting of the General People Conference (GPC) concluded and came out with the decision of the 7th conference which named President Ali Abdullah Saleh as the GPC's candidate for the presidential polls to be held in September.
