Yemeni Prime Minister Abdul Qader Bajamal on Sunday reiterated Yemen's eagerness to develop all aspects of cooperation with Jordan, reported the Jordan Times.
Bajamal, who was in Jordan to attend meetings of the Yemeni-Jordanian Joint Committee, said that coordination between the two countries should reach a level of full cooperation to serve the best interests of the two nations.
He said there were very good opportunities for free trade via the Port of Aqaba, reaching all Yemeni ports.
He hailed King Abdullah's efforts to make Aqaba a special economic zone, saying Jordan had high aspirations which merited all the hard work and support put into the zone.
Earlier, Bajamal met with Chief Commissioner of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA) Aqel Biltaji.
Biltaji briefed him and his accompanying delegation on the procedures followed by the ASEZA, as well as its current and future objectives, and the "favorable investment environment that Jordan works to provide to all investors."
The two sides also looked into the issue of Aqaba's fishermen and the decisions agreed on by Abdullah and Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh in the sea products sector.
Bajamal reiterated his country's willingness to provide the fishermen with all possible facilities, and to allow them to fish in Yemen's waters in the Red Sea.
Later on, Bajamal and the Yemeni delegation visited the Jordanian Ports Corporation, where they were briefed on its operations and ongoing development to cope with the needs of the newly launched ASEZA, according to the paper – Albawaba.com
