Yemen Grateful For UAE Support in Summit

Yemen has officially thanked H.H. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, UAE President, for his efforts on behalf of Yemen at this week’s Gulf Cooperation Council summit. 

 

The Yemeni Foreign Minister, Abubakar Al Qurbi, telephoned Foreign Minister Rashid Abdullah in Abu Dhabi yesterday, Conveying his country’s gratitude in a message from Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh to the President, Sheikh Zayed, reported the UAE news agency.  

 

The Yemeni minister extended the gratitude of his country and people to the UAE and its people for their stance in support of Yemen on various fronts, especially in the economic and development fields.  

 

Rashid Abdullah reiterated the commitment of the UAE's leadership to further enhance cooperation with Yemen, due to historic and socio-economic relations between the people of Yemen and their brothers in the Gulf region, adding that the UAE regarded as natural Yemen's inclusion in the AGCC body in the light of these ties and due to Yemen's strategic importance to the region. 

 

The six-member GCC council agreed in the Muscat summit this week to receive Yemen into a number of its institutions, and to accept Yemen into the Arab Gulf Football Cup games. (www.albawaba.com
