U.S. drone strike kills four Al Qaeda members in Yemen

Washington has carried out its fourth assassination drone strike over the past few days in Yemen, killing four Al Qaeda suspects.

The attack reportedly took place on Wednesday in Yemen’s northern province of al-Jawf’s Khalka area.

Some reports say at least four suspected al-Qaeda-linked militants were killed in the attack.

The incident comes two days after at least three people were killed in an assassination drone strike in the country’s eastern province of Mareb.

According to the United Nations, at least 16 civilians lost their lives and nearly a dozen others were wounded after two separate wedding gatherings were targeted by drones in Yemen, last December.

The U.S. has been criticized for its attacks on Yemen.

On December 15, 2013, Yemeni MPs strongly condemned U.S. drone strikes inside the Arab country and the parliament passed a law banning the drone attacks.

Washington says that its airstrikes target militants, but local sources say civilians have been the main victims of the non-UN-sanctioned airstrikes.

Last October, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said U.S. killer drone strikes in Yemen have led to the death of many civilians over the past years in a blatant violation of international law.

Other Muslim countries, including Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Somalia have also come under attack by U.S. assassination drone strikes over the past few years.
