A U.S. drone strike on a car in Maarib, east of Yemen's capital Sanaa, on Monday killed four suspected al-Qaeda militants, according to local security officials, CBS News reported.
According to CBS News, the unnamed officials claimed that three other men traveling in the car survived the attack.
In the past, the U.S. has acknowledged targeting al-Qaeda militants in Yemen, who have planned a number of foiled or aborted attacks on American territory.
The drone strike followed the deaths of at least 13 suspected members of the same group in the southern province of Bayda on Sunday, according to media reports.
An official in Bayda's capital city of Radda told AP that the explosion went off in a house owned by al-Qaeda operative, Ahmed Abdullah Deif-Allah Al-Zaha, and appeared to be an accident.
