A car bomb in Aden, a southern port city, exploded near the military intelligence department Tuesday, killing at least one person and wounding approximately 13 others.

Security officials say the parked car was detonated by remote control. No one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but officials believe it was most likely the work of al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Associated Press reports.

AQAP has taken advantage of Yemen’s instability and grown powerful within the poorest gulf state.
