Ministry of Defense officials in Yemen claim that two soldiers were killed in an attack on Friday. The attack is said to be the work of armed terrorists of the Yemen-based Al Qaeda branch.  Eight others were also injured in the attack.

The soldiers were fired upon in the Wadi Hadramout area when the assailants targeted a patrol vehicle. The truck was ambushed by hand-made grenades and other explosive devices.

The attackers fled the scene after military reinforcements arrived.

Emerging in 2009, the Yemen-based al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) has been the most effective threat to the Yemeni government.
