Yemen's Houthi rebels released six foreign hostages that have been held in the country's capital, Sanaa, for more than five months, the Associated Press reported Sunday.
Houthi rebels failed to explain why the foreign workers had been detained but said the foreigners "entered the country illegally" and "worked without notifying the authorities." At least one of them was a journalist, according to AP.
Officials said the hostages comprised three Americans, two Saudis and one Briton. The six boarded a plane Sunday and were en route to Oman, which negotiated their release, the officials told AP.
