Yemeni government forces have reclaimed the province of Shabwa, making it the fifth southern province retaken by troops supporting Yemen's exiled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, AFP reported Saturday.
A military official told AFP the rebels "withdrew" and "handed over" the province after they were promised a safe route out of the province.
On Saturday pro-government forces retook the southern provincial capital of Zinjibar, following their reclaiming the Lahj province earlier this month.
