Yasmene’s entry talked of how she would like to put as many smiles on the faces of children around the world as she can. “Wow…Life’s Good and only getting better! It’s such an honour to have been selected to travel around the world. I cannot wait to share the news with my family and friends and get started on this amazing trip,” exclaimed Yasmene.
Yasmene Salhia, a 35-year-old Canadian with a Danish mother and Palestinian father, will be sharing this experience with friends, family and the whole world via her blogs and tweets, showing how we can make life better for those in need.
“Yasmene’s simple, yet imaginative video, transcended borders and captured the world’s imagination making her one of the favourites for online voters,” commented Mr Ki Wan Kim, CEO of LG Electronics Middle East and Africa
“We are thrilled to have Yasmene as the winner of our global competition. Over the course of this selection weekend and the tests we put them through, Yasmene has shown they are someone that really encapsulated what it means to truly Live Borderless and we are looking forward to hearing all about her adventures.”
The competition was stiff, with over 15,000 entries ranging from travel-junkies to purely altruistic travellers coming from all corners of the world including the USA, Kenya, Trinidad and Tobago, South Africa, Poland, Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Korea, Canada, Brazil, UK, Syria, Philippines, Libya and the UAE making it onto the short-list. Following on from the top 20, the six selected finalists were flown to Dubai and went through a rigorous selection weekend where their knowledge of languages, food and LG itself were tested.
Throughout this novel competition, LG Electronics has inspired thousands from around the world prompting them to submit video entries on what people would do to LIVE BORDERLESS® given the chance and means. With 2,011,813 hits on the Youtube Viral Video ‘Break Out’ and almost a million visits to the website, the campaign has been a huge success. The campaign marks the launch of LG’s latest design concept the SL90 LIVE BORDERLESS™, a range of flat screen LED LCD TVs that use new technology to reduce the screen surround or bezel, and use an edge-to-edge glass panel to enhance the screen’s sleek design attributes. The new technology marks a radical departure from traditional LED LCD panel screen design.
