World powers will convene in Moscow on Tuesday in an attempt to ease concerns over the growing controversy of Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Teheran so far has shown little sign of backing down on its claim that nuclear work is within its right, as it is for civilian purposes only.
The UN Security Council, according to the AFP, is currently awaiting a report from the UN nuclear monitoring agency due by April 28 as to whether or not Iran has complied with international regulations for its nuclear program.
The US and others in the west have accused Iran of attempting to acquire nuclear weapons.
However, several representatives at Tuesday’s meeting, including Russia, which has been working with Iran on its nuclear program, differ greatly as to the best way to go about solving the impasse with Iran.
The US has repeatedly called from strong measures against Iran.
Britain, France and Germany have been relatively cautious in their approach as compared to the US, ruling out any military action should sanctions fail.
Ahmadinejad warns against aggression towards Iran
Meanwhile, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated on Tuesday that Iran’s army would be prepared to "cut off the hand of any aggressor.’
Ahmadinejad made the comments during a military parade in Tehran.
"The powerful army of the Islamic Republic of Iran is in the service of peace and security and is no threat to anyone. But in the face of enemies, it is like a meteorite,” THE Irabnian leader said.
“It will cut off the hand of any aggressor and leave the enemy covered in shame."
