The World Bank is planning to grant Lebanon a twenty-million-dollar loan to fund infrastructure projects in under-developed rural areas, reported the Daily Star newspaper on Saturday.
A delegation representing the bank, and headed by the director of social programs, Bassam Ramadan, made the announcement Friday after meeting with Social Affairs Minister Assad Diab.
Speaking on behalf of the delegation, Ramadan said final touches had now been put on the project, which is also being funded by matching $5 million contributions from the state and social groups.
Ramadan explained that the bank “is cooperating with the ministry because it is directly in touch with people’s everyday problems.”
“The project includes repairing existing water and sewage networks, as well as building new ones,” Ramadan told reporters after his meeting with Diab – Albawaba.com
