The most powerful non-atomic explosive worldwide called HMY, has been produced by Iran's ministry of defense and the armed forces logistics, reported the Iranian News Agency (IRNA) Wednesday.
The defense ministry said that the explosive can be applied in warheads, advanced fuels and as explosive fuse in drilling operations.
The project for production of the explosive was launched at a faculty affiliated to the ministry, said the agency, adding that mass production of the explosive would start soon.
Defense minister, Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani said acquiring such explosives would benefit the country at the time of peace, crisis and war.
According to an article by Iran Report, Iran's defense industries are now producing military goods for domestic and foreign markets.
Among the new products are Raad illumination shells, bullets and Tariq ammunition for submarines.
Shamkhani was quoted as saying then that five explosives-production projects are underway.
“One of these is for use in urban terrain and will be delivered by 38 mm tear-gas launchers.” – Albawaba.com
