ALBAWABA- A woman was shot and injured on Thursday after allegedly attempting to ram her car through the gates of the CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, prompting a swift security response and renewed concerns over repeated breaches at the highly secured facility.
According to a statement posted on X by the Central Intelligence Agency, the main entrance to the headquarters was temporarily closed as security forces responded to the incident. Staff members were instructed to use alternate routes while law enforcement secured the area.
Media reports, including CBS News, confirmed that security personnel opened fire on the woman after she ignored warnings and accelerated toward the gate. She was struck in the upper body and transported to a medical facility. Sources said her injuries were not believed to be life-threatening.
CIA officials referred to the event as a “security incident,” without providing specific details, while emphasizing that the individual was taken into custody.
This marks the second attempted breach at the CIA facility in less than two months, raising concerns over security vulnerabilities at one of the nation’s most critical intelligence sites.
The attempted breach comes amid heightened tensions in the U.S. capital. Just a day earlier, two employees of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, D.C. were fatally shot by an assailant who reportedly shouted “Freedom for Palestine” before fleeing the scene.
