Four Israeli security agents were injured early Sunday morning during a military operation in the Ramallah region, among them one Israeli soldier who suffered serious injuries. The incident occured in Al-Amari refugee camp south of Ramallah, where Israel Police forces were operating together with a contingent of Israeli troops. The Israeli forces were searching for stolen cars, Haaretz reported.

An Israeli spokeswoman said the group was targeted by Palestinian "militants" rather than criminals trying to interfere with the police activity.

Elsewhere, a Palestinian man was in serious condition after being shot by Israeli forces at a checkpoint between Jerusalem and Bethlehem on Sunday morning. Israeli press reports said the man attempted to steal a firearm from one of the policemen at the checkpoint.
