A double suicide bombing attack near an Israeli checkpoint in the northern West Bank killed one Israeli officer and wounded three others on Thursday morning. At least two Palestinian civilians were also killed in the blast. The explosion took place near Farun village, which is located the area of Tulkarem city.
According to Israeli and Palestinian sources, the bomber planned to carry out the attack inside Israel, but at 9:30, Israeli soldiers stopped a Palestinian taxi that arrived at the roadblock to conduct a check. The bomber then exited the vehicle, advanced towards the soldiers and detonated the explosives concealed on his person.
The Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack, which was dennounced by the Palestinian Authority.
Meanwhile, Israeli warplanes and artilleries continued, for the third running day their "Blue Skies" wide scale attack at the North of the Gaza Strip. Two missiles were dropped near Palestinian security police, west of Beit Lahiya town and a third missile on Al-Berak area opposite to Balsam hospital.
In Beithlehem, Israeli occupation forces arrested Thursday two Palestinians. Local security and witnesses told WAFA that an Israeli military unit swept into Al-Shawawira east of the city amid intensive fire shooting, besieged Mohammad ad-Diraawy house and arrested him, while another force swept into into Taqqo village and arrested Hassan Al-Badan 40, leading them into an unknown location.
