Muslims who are interested in what life their children will have should vote against Mark Dreyfus in Isaacs, says Asem Judeh, AMPC spokesperson. He says the extreme pro-Israel policies of Dreyfus will be bad for Australian Muslims. "The extreme pro-Israel position needs to whip up anti-Muslim feeling as its justification," says Judeh.
"Israel's behaviour towards Palestinian Muslims and Christians is immoral and cruel and the only way to conceal what is happening is to encourage anti-Muslim feeling. Israel's defenders do not want to allow any criticism of Israel, and so they have to hide behind anti-Muslim positions to keep the truth hidden."
Judeh says Muslim Australians should take advantage of their democratic rights to protect themselves and their next generations. "Muslims know that there is a lot of anti-Muslim feeling being whipped up for political advantage," he says. "If they do nothing, it will only get worse. But if they start to vote to protect their own interests, then the situation can start
to improve. One way to do that is to vote against the people
who have the most to gain from anti-Muslim sentiment."
Judeh says Dreyfus could become Attorney General or Foreign
Minister. "If he gets either position, it will be bad for Muslims
because of his need to push the Israeli cause," he says. "Israeli
politics should not be distorting Australian politics, and
Muslims should defend themselves by voting against it."
