ALBAWABA - The meteorological office of Iceland said on Wednesday that a fresh volcanic explosion has started on the Reykjanes peninsula in southwest Iceland, just after the local town of Grindavik was evacuated by the authorities.
It added in a statement that "an eruption has started near Sundhnuksgigar, north of Grindavik," about three weeks after the last eruption, which had been going on since March 16, came to a stop. The eruption on Wednesday was the peninsula's fifth since December.
