Villa Beach Cottages Announces Extensive Expansion, Renovations
St. Lucia’s Best Kept Secret Boutique Hotel Features Updated Villa Suites With Comfortable, Casual Luxury in Idyllic Location
Nestled among the coconut trees of Choc Bay, just a few short yards from the Caribbean Sea, lies one of St. Lucia’s best-kept secrets – Villa Beach Cottages. Offering panoramic views of the ocean, the lush green mountains of the northern coastline and an offshore island, this unique property is situated in an idyllic paradise. Over the years, Villa Beach Cottages has remained a favorite of visitors who come here time and time again. Now, after undergoing extensive renovations and improvements over the past year, the property is poised to become a new favorite for travelers with its comfortable, casual luxury, friendly service and picturesque, peaceful location.
Located on the northern edge of St. Lucia, just 4 miles from Castries, the island’s capital, and 3 miles from the airport, Villa Beach Cottages are a world away from the stresses and strains of everyday life. Providing a selection of 20 villa suites in a captivatingly beautiful setting, the property reflects rich St. Lucian architectural heritage with its high cathedral ceilings, intricate gingerbread fretwork, jalousie shutters, medallions and finials throughout. Original handcrafted wooden furniture and oil paintings adorn each unit.
The recent expansion and renovation has added 10 new villa suites to the property, including six deluxe one-bedroom suites and four deluxe two-bedroom suites. These beautiful and luxurious self-contained villa suites feature intricately carved four-poster beds, living and dining rooms with indigenous designer furniture, fully-equipped kitchens with marble countertops, including full-sized appliances, and large balconies with teak furniture and steamers overlooking the Caribbean Sea. The deluxe one-bedroom suites also include bathrooms with his and hers pedestal sinks and in-room Jacuzzi tubs with an ocean view. All of the villa suites feature state-of the-art room amenities such as LCD flat-screen TVs, DVD and CD players, Wi-Fi and high-speed Internet access.
Three special one-bedroom suites have been named in honor of notable, long-time repeat guests: Derek Walcott, Nobel Laureate for Literature, featuring a library of his books and his original watercolors; Adelaide Rice, and Edith Johnson. In addition, a small but spectacular showpiece is the two-story Honeymoon Villa, with the living room/dining room and kitchen on the first level and the bedroom and bathroom on the second floor. It features hardwood flooring, Victorian wainscot paneling, and a romantic wooden spiral staircase leading to the bedroom, as well as French doors opening onto the balcony and its view of the sea.
Like the honorees cited above, many guests of Villa Beach Cottages consider it a home away from home. Apart from the fabulous location and impeccable service, they come back to reconnect with old friends they’ve met over the years, and for the warm welcome they receive from hotel management and staff. This is part of what sets Villa Beach Cottages apart from other island properties.
“Travel is about making a human connection, and this is what we promote on property, “ said Colin Hunte, owner/manager of Villa Beach Cottages and president of the St. Lucia Hotel and Tourism Association. “For many, it’s like a family reunion. Now, with the expansion and renovation of the property, we look forward expanding that family and introducing new guests to the pleasures of Villa Beach Cottages.â€
In addition to the extensive renovations and additions made to the villa suites, many enhancements and additions were made to the on-site facilities. A restaurant, Coconuts, offers Creole and International cuisine (meals on request), while the new mini-mart Koko’s offers convenient on-site shopping.
