ViewSonic, a worldwide leader in the field of visual technologies, has further consolidated its market position throughout the fourth quarter of 2006, exceeding its records of the previous quarters (46% growth during Q2 and 58% YOY growth during Q3). These results contributed to the worldwide growth announced by ViewSonic Corporation for the year 2006, with global revenue of $1.6 billion, up from $1.2 billion in 2005 and over 38 million units shipped.
In view of the company’s performance throughout 2006, ViewSonic now ranks number seven in the EMEA branded LCD market, up two places from 2005.
In the Middle East, ViewSonic grew at more than three times the market in 2006, and was the second fastest growing branded desktop display vendor in the region. Total shipments of ViewSonic monitors grew by 28.6% during 2006, and the company is predicted to be the number three branded display vendor in the region by the end of 2007.
“ViewSonic’s growth over 2006 in the Middle East was very promising, and we intend to continue with this level of growth through continuous reinforcement of our channel program and partners, and with the introduction of new product ranges to expand our portfolio. We are confident that we can continue to build our share of the market throughout 2007,” said Aaron Fright, Regional Manager, ViewSonic Middle East & Africa.

“In part this growth will be driven by the execution of our three year strategic corporate plan for the region. We are increasing our investment in staffing and resources, and also our focus on the channel to broaden our footprint across the region, by improving our delivery and support for channel partners,” Fright added.
Following the trend identified in the third quarter of 2006, the most significant market share increases were registered again in large size branded LCD models – including wide formats. In the 22-inch wide category, ViewSonic succeeded in nearly doubling market share during the last quarter – 19.2% vs. 9.8% in Q3 - to rank number two for the whole of 2006 with a yearly market share of almost 17%. This includes positions within the Top three in more than 15 EMEA countries.
In the Middle East wide-screen displays were also a key driver in the growth of ViewSonic’s business and in the growth of the display market overall, with the launch of Microsoft Windows Vista expected to drive demand for wide-screen displays even further. ViewSonic ranked as number three in widescreen display shipments in the region, with 10.1% market share, and the company will be targeting this area for further growth. ViewSonic has the widest range of wide-screen displays available in the Middle East.
“As a market leader willing to offer the latest technologies to our customers, we strongly believe in the transition to wide screen formats bringing more comfort of use and ergonomics to users. Our 2006 results are a proof of our ability to match users’ expectations, go to market and rapidly capitalise on successful launches to further improve our market position in the LCD market” said Jan Jensen, President and Managing Director of ViewSonic Europe.
