ALBAWABA - Drones struck the United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia casuing a "limited fire" on Monday night at the diplomatic compound, Al Jazeera reported.

The United States Embassy in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh, was hit by two drones, and a “limited fire” erupted near the building, the Saudi Defense Ministry announced.

The Ministry added that a fire broke out at the embassy, but the diplomatic compound sustained only "minor" damage.

A video was shared on social media showing the moment of drones attack, and a black smoke was seen above Riyadh's Diplomatic Quarter, which houses foreign missions, Reuters reported.

On the other hand, U.S. President Donald Trump warned of a harsh response to the embassy attack and the killing of several American service members. "You’ll find out soon," he said.

However, Reuters said, citing sources, that the American embassy building was empty at the time of the Iranian attack, and no casualties were reported.
