ALBAWABA - In a video circulating on social media, Benin military soldiers stormed a national television channel and announced a Coup d'état with claims that they removed the country's president Patrice Talon from office.
However, Talon's office reportedly stated that the president is safe and that the official army has regained control over the situation, as reported by France 24.
AFP cited a military source who said, "It's just a matter of time before everything returns to normal. The clean-up is progressing well."

According to Al Jazeera, the Military Committee for Refoundation announced on state television the closing of Benin's borders and the suspension of political activities until further notice. The spokesperson added on state television that Benin citizens should continue working normally with "more faith and discipline."
