The Advanced AZO+ technology, recently developed by VERBATIM, eliminates the speed limits for data storage on DVD+R and DVD-R. It can reach high recording speeds of 16x and is compatible with previous generations of DVD recorders and burners (after firmware upgrade). This technology offers excellent thermal and optical properties with enhanced laser sensitivity during high-speed recording. Reliability is also improved. The control of heat interference between record marks reduces deterioration and minimises jitter for better recording performance.

The new Verbatim DVD+R Double Layer and Dual Layer provide enhanced storage capacity: up to 4 hours of DVD quality in video (nearly 8 hours in VHS quality), 8.5 Gb of data or more than 120 hours of MP3 audio files on a single side, while remaining compatible with most current DVD and DVD-ROM drives.
The development of DVD+R DL 8x marks a significant advance. They have the highest speed on the market for DVD DL burning. An 8.5 Gb disk can be fully burned in less than 15 minutes, which is 66 % faster than the first generation of DVD+R. Discs can also be burned at lower speed to allow compatibility with previous generations of DVD+R DL 2.4 x burners.
The finalised certification means that the new compatible Dual Layer burners can fully burn a Verbatim DVD-R Dual Layer disc in close to 25 minutes. Verbatim and its parent company, Mitsubishi® Kagaku Media (MKM), were among the first to confirm the technical feasibility of 4x speed recording of a Dual Layer DVD-R.

Verbatim extends its Flash Memory range.
The company  has new  64 and 128 Mb Memory Sticks, xD Picture Cards from 64 to 512 Mb, MiniSD from 128 to 512 Mb with a 64 Mb to 1 Gb adapter, Compact Flash from 64Mb to 4Gb, MultiMedia Card from 64MO to 1Gb and Smart Media from 32 to 128 Mb.
A new USB key: the Store ‘n’ Go Professional with a reading speed of 23 Mb/sec and writing 14 Mb/sec. This means that 256 Mb can be read in less than 13 seconds and written in less than 17 seconds. It also makes the most of exclusive V-Key software which allows full synchronisation of selected files and directories between the USB peripheral and the computer. Of course, security is also a priority and the Store ‘n’ Go Professional uses V-Safe technology which allows you to encrypt a zone to guarantee safe storage for valuable data.

Finally Verbatim will launch new DVD formats (Blu-ray and HD DVD) towards the end of the year when compatible burners and recorders will be available. The Verbatim Blu-ray will have 25Gb (single layer) then 50Gb (double layer) with the HD DVD available in 16 Gb at first. With premium quality writable media meeting the specifications of these new high-capacity formats, users will be able to record and appreciate the accurate images provided by high-definition video. High-capacity discs will also be useful for extended computer data storage applications.
World leader in dye and technological processes for media production,  Verbatim/MKM has assigned the development of these next generation technologies to two of its main installations. With its expertise in the field of magneto-optics, UDO and high-precision, the Mizushima factory in Japan will concentrate on developing Blu-ray.

Verbatim will meet professionals in the sector at the GITEX
trade fair in Dubai from 25 to 29 September 2005
