Vast Selection of Hardware and Peripherals Set for Display at GITEX 2001

An array of hardware and peripherals is set to be displayed at GITEX 2001, to be held at Dubai World Trade Centre, from October 14-18, said the organizers, Orient Planet, in a statement. 

Visitors to the show will get a chance to familiarise themselves with the latest emerging technologies in servers, scanners, motherboards, fax modems, monitors and other computer components.  

Internationally acclaimed names like Compaq and Acer will be displayed alongside regional manufacturers both from the Middle East and beyond. 

“Hardware is the backbone of the IT industry. This year’s GITEX will showcase an extensive range of cutting edge computer hardware that will ensure more integrated end to end solutions and enable visitors to the show to make smart purchasing decisions,” said Jillian Shaw, international project manager, GITEX. 

For the first time in the region, Compaq will demonstrate the new GS series of servers in addition to a full range of PC products like the revolutionary iPAQ pocket PC. The new EVOTM family of corporate notebooks, desktops and workstations will be unveiled during the show, in addition to the latest server technology such as the ProLiant and Task Smart servers.  

Compaq will also highlight its most recent technology at the stand this year, by focusing on state of the art Internet access, seamless wireless technology, storage, high powered systems and Compaq Global Services.  

Compaq's services divisions will feature internet-enabled solutions such as e-procurement, customer relationship management and fraud control for a variety of businesses ranging from large corporations looking for a complete integrated e-business solution to individuals wanting to access the web remotely.  

Compaq's suite of professional services by the Global Services team, will be available at the show, to provide information to enterprise customers looking to deploy e-commerce solutions. 

Acer is set to showcase its latest high-end, business-use products and solutions with a particular focus on small and medium businesses, incorporating trading, hospitality, contracting and other solutions.  

A broad range of products will be displayed including PC servers, multimedia desktop computers, notebooks, computer peripherals and components. The new generation of advanced mobile PC - the TravelMate 611 TXC - which offers leading DVD/CD-RW combo drive in the 14 inch class, smart card security and Intel-based performance, will be on display. Measuring just 24.5mm and weighing only 2kg, the TraveMate 611 is slim and light enough to be carried through a full business day, while the slender battery lasts 2.5 hours. Acer will also provide samples of end-to-end solutions, mobile phones, plasma displays, TFT screens, projectors, wireless communications and e-corp solutions. 

A regular participant at GITEX and one of UAE's leading Gigabyte motherboard suppliers, Golden Systems Electronics LLC, will exhibit a full product range of Teac FDD, CD-Rom, Fujitsu Hard Disks, Surecom Networking products, VIA Processors, Task casings and power supply and GB Mouse Keyboards in addition to other multimedia products. 

Sky Electronics, a distributor of computer components and peripherals in the Middle East, will showcase the system solution using the latest technology in AMD microprocessors and AOpen computer components. Along with the AMD Athlon Thunderbird platform and the existing AOpen products, the display will also include new products such as high speed DVDs and CD-RWs, new server and system housing and the latest in mainboard and multimedia products.  

The authorised distributor of Genius brand PC systems in the Middle East and Africa, Genius Computer Technologies (GCT) will use GITEX to showcase its new corporate image as well as a variety of products from Genius including fax modems, networking hardware, multimedia, speakers, scanners and the mouse. GCT also hopes to use GITEX to establish long-term trade relations with partners throughout the region. 

Al Yousuf Distribution, a leading distributor for branded products, will use GITEX to launch the DFI brand of motherboards. Visitors to the stand will also be able to see Epson Dot Matrix, Ink Jet and Laser printers and accessories, Gateway PCs, servers and notebooks and CTX branded CD ROMs and DVD ROMs. 

Alis Technologies Inc. (Arabic Latin Information Systems) promises a new selection of peripherals including printers designed for a variety of environments from various entry-level solutions for professional environments to multiple-high technologies. The Multi Document Printer Family is a special line of transactional printers designed for all front office applications where the primary requirement is the capability to print on special media such as passbooks, tickets, passports and cheques etc. 

Established in Singapore in 1978, Kobian Singapore Pte. Ltd is a leading distributor of 'Mercury' branded computer components and peripherals. At GITEX 2001, Kobian will provide a comprehensive selection of scanners, motherboards, casings, fax modems, monitors, Bare Bone Systems, Add OnCards, speakers and UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) equipment.  

Business critical computing and mobility will be the force behind Fujitsu Siemens Computers participation at GITEX this year. The exhibits will include innovative products in the fields of personal computers, notebooks and servers, enhanced by addition leading functionalities and solutions for wireless networking and high-availability computing scenarios. 

SY Electronics Limited has continued to adapt to the rapid changes in the PC market by developing a product range which extends from 2 and 4 PC peripheral unit sharers to complex Help Desk and Multiple Server Room configurations. The product range has been extended in 2001 to include a range of CAT5 based extender, peripheral sharing devices and a new range of 19" Rack systems. The 'A Rack' range is intended to offer a cost effective solution for both computers and telecommunications environments.  

Founded in 1985, LEO Systems Inc hopes to use Gitex, as a platform to aggressively expand in the Middle East. Among the vast selection of products on display in the LEO Series will be the Persica, Databook, DESIGNote Notebook, Server and the Pentium 4 Series. The product line has been designed to suit the requirements of all computing environments including home-office, enterprise and government/education/health-care environments 

At Ultra-X (UK) Ltd, will offer visitors a wide array of professional PC diagnostic hardware and software products. This year's lineup includes QuickTech USB, a hardware and software USB tester and RST PRO (Ram Stress Test professional), and the Professional Hardware Diagnostic PCI, a complete system testing tool. Other products include the Hummer IP, an ISA testing card, QuickTech PRO, the latest in software testing utility and RAM Stress Test. 

Pino International Ltd (PINO) will provide a selection of GPS and GSM Vehicle Modules while Fortrex Electronic Co. Ltd, producers of computer cases, will introduce new products like the Image P4A and P4B with wireless and snap-on front panel, drive spaces, and improved dimensions. 

Bridge Information Co Ltd will offer a wide selection of monitors including 3D, touch screen, touch panel, TV and Industrial PC monitors with metal chassis or Open Frame for POS, IPC, ATM, CNC and CCTV applications. Apache Micro Peripherals, a US-based manufacturer, will participate in GITEX 2001 with a range of products including Arabic keyboards and mouse, PDAs, e-Assistants and a full line of memory products. 

Taiwan-based manufacturers like DecaView Asia Corporation, Spectec and Birch Technology Inc will also have a strong presence at the GITEX showcasing an extensive range of colour monitors, notebooks and the the TFT Touch System and CF (Compact Flash) serial card – Albawaba.com
