ALBAWABA - The Vancouver Police Department announced arresting a suspect in what they called an "unprovoked attack" on a woman in the downtown area of the Canadian city.
In an official statement, VPD said that the man had been charged with assault after he attacked a woman, who was visiting the city, earlier on Tuesday as was walking near the cruise ship terminal at Canada Place.
The report further detailed that the woman was repeatedly punched and kicked in the face, and sustained multiple injuries that required medical attention at the hospital.
Vancouver PD Sergeant, Steve Addison, said that several witnesses were at the scene of the attack and tried to help the woman by calling the police to have the perpetrator arrested.
"The suspect and victim did not know each other and had no prior interaction before the assault occurred. We’re thankful to the bystanders who called the police so our officers could respond immediately and collect valuable evidence that led to the quick arrest of the suspect," Sergeant Addison stated.
Patrol officers from the Vancouver Police Department got camera footage of the suspect at the crime site. He was later caught in a residential building. Later in the day, a VPD officer and police service dog arrested the suspect.
Massimo Rosario Falvo, 30, has been charged by the British Columbia Prosecution Service with one count of aggravated assault.
