USD 750,000 in prize money at the IHF Super Globe in Qatar

 The IHF Super Globe, the World Championship for club teams in handball which will be held in Doha from the 17th to 21st May, will award USD 750,000 to the best three teams.
Qatar is set to take world handball’s leading club competition to new heights by hosting the International Handball Federation’s Super Globe Championship over the next four years. This year, the winning team will receive USD 400,000; the team ranked second will be allocated USD 200,000; while the bronze medallist will be rewarded USD 150,000.
Mr. Saadoun Al-Kuwari, Event Director, IHF Super Globe Organising Committee, said: 
“We will gather the very best handball teams and players in the world and we look forward to their battle for the medals and the prize money. We will offer an extraordinary sports event in Qatar for players and spectators alike.”
Qatar has a global reputation for hosting international sporting events including the Asian Games 2006;   the WTA Sony Ericsson Championships; the ATP Qatar Exxon Mobil tennis tournaments; the European PGA Qatar Masters golf tournaments; the Qatar Athletic Super Grand Prix; FINA Diving World Series; Equestrian Global Champions Tour; and other key sports events. Recently, Qatar hosted the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics, and in 2011 the AFC Asian Cup football tournament will be held in Qatar.
 “The local community in Qatar is extremely receptive to high-quality sporting events, and we believe the IHF Super Globe will further demonstrate Qatar’s exceptional organisational capacity. With Qatar's sporting pedigree and world class facilities, athletes and spectators will experience the ultimate sporting event,” added Mr. Al-Kuwari. 
In this clash of the continents, the Spanish team BM Ciudad Real will be joined by Al Sad Club of Lebanon, Pan American winners Unopar Fel Sercomtel, AHF Southern Stars from Australia, African Champions El Zamalek of Egypt and Qatari champions Al Sadd.
