A USAID-funded project center for improving medical services for mothers and newborns opened in Amman Tuesday.
The Comprehensive Postpartum Center (CPP) is the last of a network of 21 Jordanian center established under a five-year CPP project funded by USAID and implemented by Pathfinder International, according to a press release by the US embassy in Amman, faxed to Albawaba.com.
The project seeks to develop medical services by establishing specialized postpartum centers in selected hospitals throughout Jordan.
In addition, the project provides supporting services to the center, including training of staff and family planning services and counseling.
Among the major achievements of the CPP project over its five years of implementation is that 67 percent of mothers now return for postpartum care, an 11-fold increase since the start of the project 1996, said the press release.
Addition achievements include training foR more than 2,300 Jordanian health professionals, the establishment of a computerized management, and information system (MIS) in all CPP centers – Albawaba.com
