ALBAWABA - The floating dock on the Gaza shore has been completed and reinstalled, according to the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). The dock was first damaged by a storm and stopped functioning soon after it was put up.
CENTCOM announced on social media that the pier was opened again at about 2:15 PM local time. The statement made clear that the dock will soon make it easier to transport vital food and emergency supplies to Gaza with the help of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The floating dock was dubbed a "fiasco" after being destroyed by unfavorable weather conditions only weeks after it was inaugurated. It was built over the course of more than two months and has been in use since May 17.
Furthermore, the Pentagon updated the dock's overall cost, which was originally estimated to be $320 million, claiming that the actual cost, including repairs, is now closer to $230 million.
