US Vice President Dick Cheney left George Washington University Hospital Tuesday at approximately 1515 GMT a day after a procedure to reopen an artery in his heart.

Earlier, a Cheney aide said the vice president should be able to assume his regular duties.

"No work restrictions have been placed on the vice president who intends to resume his schedule later this week," said Mary Matalin, a top advisor to the 60-year-old Cheney, who suffered his fourth heart attack last November.

The vice president had checked himself into George Washington University Hospital on Monday after complaining of chest discomfort, his doctors said, adding that there was "no evidence" that he had had another heart attack -- WASHINGTON (AFP)
