ALBAWABA- The US Foreign Policy has reported that the U.S. administration is currently reassessing its military presence in Syria, deeming it unnecessary and exploring the optimal timing and method for withdrawal.
Citing sources within the White House, as well as the Departments of Defense and State, the report indicates a diminishing interest in a prolonged U.S. stay in Syria.
Analysts interpret this potential withdrawal as a response to escalating pressure from Iran-backed armed groups, who have been increasingly targeting U.S. troops in both Iraq and Syria.
Notably, this development follows the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in February 2020.
