US Senator John Edwards is scheduled to arrive in Cairo on Thursday for talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Ahmad Maher and other senior officials on the current situation in the occupied Arab lands, reported the official Saudi News Agency (SPA).

Egypt has summoned the US ambassador in Cairo and informed him of its dissatisfaction with the level of Washington's involvement in the Middle East crisis.

In response, US President George W. Bush sent a reassuring message to President Hosni Mubarak on Tuesday, according to reports.

Meanwhile, Mubarak may send Maher or his advisor Osama Al Baz on an urgent mission to Washington to discuss ways of enforcing a ceasefire in the Occupied Territories.

The reports cited Egyptian sources as saying that Mubarak’s envoy would brief US officials on the urgent need to implement the US-brokered ceasefire and the Mitchell report's recommendations.

Within the same context, Mubarak on Friday sent an "urgent message" to Bush on the "dangerous complications" in the Middle East, the official MENA news agency reported earlier in the week - Albawaba.com
