ALBAWABA - United States Secretary of State Marco Rubio has departed from Israel to Saudi Arabia, AFP reported confirmed on Monday.
Rubio left from Ben Gurion airport near Tel Aviv and is heading to the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The American top diplomat is expected to hold talks with senior Saudi officials.
After the Riyadh visit, Rubio will leave for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on his first tour of the Middle East as US Secretary of State, AFP maintained.
During his trip to Israel, Rubio held talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Sunday about the Gaza Strip and possible Iran nuclear threat. PM said he will "finish the job" against Iran with the support of President Donald Trump.
“Over the last 16 months, Israel has dealt a mighty blow to Iran’s terror axis. Under the strong leadership of President Trump… I have no doubt that we can and will finish the job,” Netanyahu said. Rubio confirmed that there "could never be a nuclear Iran."
The US also completed a heavy bomb shipment to Israel after Trump lifted a hold on the deliveries, Israel's Ministry of Defense announced.
