Chairman of the US Military Central Command Tommy Franks met Thursday with Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak at the Red Sea resort of Sharm El Sheikh, Radio Cairo said.
The president and his guest discussed current international developments in light of the US-led military campaign against terrorism.
According to Kuwait’s official news agency (KUNA), the talks, which were attended by the Egyptian Defense Minister Mohammed Hussein Tantawi, also covered bilateral cooperation in all domains, namely the military field.
It is expected that during his one-day visit, Franks will hold discussions with high-ranking Egyptian officers on military cooperation.
The US official is to witness during his visit the conclusion of the Bright Star 2001 maneuvers, which started in Egypt on October 13 with the participation of 10 states, including the US.
Frank's visit to Egypt comes within the framework of a tour that includes the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Germany – Albawaba.com
