ALBAWABA - American Congressman Henry Cuellar was car-jacked at gunpoint in the U.S. capital Washington D.C. Monday night, local media reported.
According to CNN, the Congressman was reported safe from the incident despite that his phone and car were taken.
The accident took place near Henry Cuellar's residency in the Navy Yard area of Washington, D.C. near the U.S. Capitol.
ABC News cited a source saying "an alert sent to congressional members stated three to four men held guns to his head and took his car and phone."
Democratic Texas Rep. Cuellar's chief of staff, Jacob Hochberg, said in a statement confirming the incident: "As Congressman Cuellar was parking his car this evening, 3 armed assailants approached the Congressman and stole his vehicle. Luckily, he was not harmed and is working with local law enforcement. Thank you to Metro PD and Capitol Police for their swift action and for recovering the Congressman’s vehicle."
DC police said that the car-jacked incident took place at about 9:32 p.m. Monday night where Cuellar’s office, the congressman’s sushi dinner, phone, iPad and car were all stolen.
