ALBAWABA - The U.S.-led coalition has conducted a series of strikes against Yemen's Houthis in response to attacks by the latter in the Red Sea.

"U.S. Central Command forces (CENTCOM) alongside UK Armed Forces, and with the support from Australia, Bahrain, Canada, and the Netherlands, conducted strikes on 8 Houthi targets in Iranian-backed Houthi terrorist-controlled areas of Yemen," CENTCOM said in a statement over X.

Aimed at degrading the Houthis abilities in the region, CENTCOM said that these strikes target the capability to continue their "reckless and unlawful attacks on U.S. and U.K. ships as well as international commercial shipping in the Red Sea, Bab Al-Mandeb Strait, and the Gulf of Aden".

The U.S. CENTCOM statement added that the strikes conducted by the multilateral coalition, that the U.S. called for its formation in December, targeted areas in Houthi-controlled Yemen used to attack international merchant vessels and U.S. Navy ships in the region.

The targets included missile systems and launchers, air defense systems, radars, and deeply buried weapons storage facilities.

Britain’s Ministry of Defense confirmed that four Royal Air Force Typhoon jets struck "multiple targets at two military sites in the vicinity of Sanaa airfield" with precision-guided bombs, AFP reported.

The strikes, said Defense Secretary Grant Shapps, were "aimed at degrading Houthi capabilities” and would "deal another blow to their limited stockpiles and ability to threaten global trade".

Shortly after Israel launched its brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip, Houthis ought to target all merchant and military vessels crossing the Red Sea and headed to Israel, as a way to retaliate for the people of Gaza.

Al-Aqsa Flood operation against Israel

Hamas military group announced on Oct. 7 a military operation called "Al-Aqsa Flood" against Israel which is the biggest offensive in decades.

Palestinian fighters “infiltrated” Israel from the Gaza Strip and captured military bases and took hostages as photos and videos went viral online showing Hamas fighters on vehicles inside Israel and others paragliding into occupation territory.

In response, Israeli armed forces announced targeting Hamas positions inside the Gaza Strip. Thousands were killed, and dozens of thousands of others were injured in the Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.
