U.S. allies will send 1,500 troops to Iraq to help train Iraqi and Kurdish forces battling ISIL, Reuters reports.
“When you start now to balance the different capabilities out across the coalition, I think we’re doing pretty well in terms of boots on the ground,” Lieutenant General James Terry said Monday.
The commitments were made during a conference among coalition members on December 2-3. Terry declined to comment on which countries were contributing but said the coalition includes more than 40 countries.
