ALBAWABA - More than 12 hours after setting himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy in Washington, U.S. Airman Aaron Bushnell has been confirmed dead according to a report by the Pentagon.

Without naming Aaron Bushnell, an Air Force spokeswoman said the unnamed man had "succumbed to his injuries and passed away last night. We will provide additional details 24 hours after next of kin notifications are complete".

His final words were "Free Palestine," and pro-Palestinian activists quickly circulated the story of the US Air Force airman who set himself on fire outside the Israeli embassy and was severely burnt.

A video of Aaron Bushnell outside the Israeli embassy in Washington went viral on social media. In the video, the US Air Force active member introduces himself before saying he will no longer be complicit in "genocide". Following setting himself on fire, Bushnell was heard continuously chanting "Free Palestine."
