The UAE operations of UPS (NYSE:UPS), the world’s largest package delivery firm, today announced the sponsorship of the “UPS Allstars” football team. The three-year agreement highlights UPS UAE’s engagement with the communities which it serves.
The UPS Allstars, whose uniforms bear the distinctive brown UPS logo, consists of 30 players in the second division of the Dubai Expat League.
The Dubai Expat League celebrates its fifth year in Dubai and has grown from five teams in its first season to 22 teams today, totalling 500 players.
“The players’ efforts and dedication has helped the team grow to what it is today. In the last five years, our team has developed and we are delighted to receive the support from UPS -- it is tremendously encouraging and drives us to perform better,” said George Gordon, head coach of the UPS Allstars team.
“Supporting the team enables UPS to further engage with the local community and highlights our commitment to the UAE market. Teamwork, physical fitness and a balance between work and leisure are among UPS’s company values which make sponsoring a football team a natural choice for UPS UAE,” said John Tansey, country manager, UPS UAE LLC.
Globally, UPS has been a key supporter of other sporting events such as NASCAR in the USA.
UPS UAE began operations more than 10 years ago and quickly established itself as one of the leading package delivery and logistics solution providers. Recently, in an effort to redefine its commitments to its customers in the UAE, UPS announced a major expansion of its service offerings. Now customers in the Emirates benefit from two, rather than one, daily time-definite delivery options to and from the world's most active trading markets.
