Jordanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh announced that any news regarding the release of Iraqi prisoner Sajida al-Rashawi is false.
He restated that her release depends entirely on Daesh accepting a prisoner exchange for the captured Jordanian pilot, Muath al-Kasasbeh.
The statement, released on the minister's personal Twitter feed, came in response to early media reports claiming al-Rashawi had already been released from Jordanian custody and had been taken to Iraq.
Another unknown Jordanian Official stated that negotiations with Daesh are continuing through religious and tribal leaders, but that al-Rashawi will not be released without a price.
Tuesday night Daesh gave Jordanian authorities 24 hours to release al-Rashawi, who has been imprisoned in Jordan since being convicted of a failed suicide bombing attempt in 2005. Al-Rashawi's release within the deadline, Daesh militants claimed, would free Japanese hostage Kenji Goto and assure the survival of al-Kasasbeh.
Roughly one thousand people gathered in Amman in solidarity for the 26 year old al-Kasasbeh, who has been in Daesh custody since his plane crashed in Raqqa in December 2014.
