ALBAWABA - The UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) revealed on Sunday that seven newborns died of cold weather and inadequate shelter in the Gaza Strip amid the ongoing war between Hamas and Israel.
UNRWA said in a statement that cold weather and lack of shelter are causing the death of newborn babies in Gaza, in addition, the UN agency added that 7,700 newborns lack life-saving care.
UNRWA further mentioned in the statement that the World Health Organization (WHO) had condemned the "Israeli Forces’ raid that put the Kamal Adwan Hospital out of service. It was North Gaza's last major health facility."
It continued: "50 attacks have been verified on or near the hospital since October 2024. WHO continues to urge the State of Israel to release the hospital’s director, Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya."
Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli aggression on Gaza has killed over 45,800 people, mostly women and children. War is still ongoing since Hamas carried out Al-Aqsa Flood Operation against Israel leaving at least 1,200 people killed and kidnapping over 200 others from areas surrounding Gaza.
