Umniah, the latest mobile company to launch in Jordan, has participated in Jordan Media Center tour, in cooperation with Jordan Tourism Board, and Baptism Board to some of the wonderful sights in Jordan. The tour was attended by 145 journalists and press members from different local, Arab and foreign media organizations in Jordan.

The tour targeted the ancient sights of Madaba including Baptism, the Greek Orthodox Church of St. George and Mount Nebo.

"We are glad to be part of raising awareness about significant sights and promoting Jordan’s historical destinations and treasures,” said Rania Abu-Khader Salfiti, Communications Manager of Umniah.

The tour included lunch in the municipality of Madaba. The lunch was sponsored by Umniah to honor journalists and press members who represent Jordan and reflect its image through their creative writings.

“At Umniah, we believe in the important role our journalists and media members play in reflecting a civilized picture of Jordan; therefore we wanted to express our appreciation to our local media.” added Salfiti.

Umniah as well continues its campaign, which aims at promoting Petra as one of the “New 7 Wonders of the World” to urge Umniah's subscribers to vote for one of Jordan’s treasures. This comes as part of Umniah’s commitment to the national initiatives launched by Jordan Tourism Board in November 2006.

Voting for Petra is available to all Umniah subscribers, where they can simply send a short text message with the word “Petra” to Umniah’s short number 92381. In this regard Salfiti called on Umniah’s subscribers to participate in promoting Petra as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World to contribute to the success of Petra and to raise the global awareness towards our national treasures.
