ALBAWABA – Ukraine has claimed that it gave intelligence help to rebels in Mali's attack on the Russian Wagner force. Andriy Yusov, Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Main Directorate of Intelligence spokeswoman, made this comment.
Yusov told local television about the Mali Wagner fighter attack, saying, "Intelligence helped the rebels defeat Russian war criminals. We won't say more, but there will be."
"Wagner has tried to address geopolitical and economic issues and influence governments with their mercenaries," Yusov said of Wagner's African involvement. Today, the world perceives Russia's declining capabilities. This suggests a regional decline in new orders and their use as a problem-solving tool."
The Wagner group's social media account lately reported heavy deaths in fights with former Tuareg rebels, Al-Qaeda terrorists, and Malian army personnel in Africa.
From July 22–27, 2024, the Wagner group's 13th Assault Squad, directed by Sergey Shevchenko, fought the Coordination of Azawad Movements (CMA) and Al-Qaeda militants near Tinzaouatene with Malian forces.
The Malian army said yesterday that five terrorist targets were hit in Tinzaouatene, 230 kilometers from Kidal on the Algerian border, following three days of fighting.
The Strategic Framework for the Defense of the People of Azawad (CSP-DPA), founded by organizations that disarmed northern Mali in 2015 with the Algiers Agreement, said that Malian battalions patrolling with Russian Wagner soldiers in Tinzaouatene were "defeated." They reported 10 troops dead, several injured, and armored vehicle capture.
CSP-DPA sympathizers on social media released images of Wagner soldiers and claimed more than 30 were killed in the fighting.
