A commercial plane in the UAE was diverted to a nearby miilitary base after a passenger said it would explode, the UAE's state news agency WAM said early Monday.

According to the news agency, an Air Arabia flight headed for Kuwait made an unplaned landing at the Al-Minhad military air base, on the oukskirts of Dubai, where authorities reportedly boarded the plane and took "appropriate standard procedures to deal with the situation." It did not elaborate about the details of the inspection.

Budget carrier Air Arabia is based in the UAE's Sarjah and did not immediately repond to requests for comments from the Associated Press.

Last month, a string of Turkish Airline flights were asked to turn back after bomb scares in the air, with the most recent happening in mid-April during a flight headed for Basel from Istanbul.
