UAE Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Mattar Humaid Al Tayer arrived in Cairo on Friday, leading the UAE's delegation attending the 29th conference of the Arab Labor Organization (ALO) beginning Saturday at the Arab League headquarters in Egypt’s capital.

Khaleej Times reports that Dr. Ibrahim Quwaidar, Secretary-General of the ALO, stated that the conference would review the draft of an Arab plan to overcome the problem of unemployment throughout the Arab world.

He said that the prime objective of the plan was to advance joint Arab efforts to fight unemployment. Quwaidar added that the conference would also discuss the condition of Palestinian workers in light of the Israeli siege and hardships being faced by the Arab labor abroad, in wake of the September 11 attacks.
