UAE’s ministry of finance and industry will start enforcing a ban on import of vehicles which cannot run on unleaded petrol by the beginning of next year, reported the Emirati News Agency (WAM).
The ministry has issued a circular to all agents of car manufacturers and commercial institutions, telling them that it will start the implementation of the ban by January 1, 2002, said WAM.
Agents can receive a detailed document about specifications for unleaded fuel from the ministry’s standardization department.
The ministry also decided to give a grace period of five years to licensed vehicles in the country to switch over to engines using unleaded gasoline, said the agency – Albawaba.com
