Two Turkish soldiers and a civilian were wounded in an attack carried out by the PKK fighters in eastern Tunceli province Monday, according to a military source.
The source, who spoke on condition of confidentiality due to restrictions on speaking to the media, told Anadolu Agency PKK militants had opened fire with long-barreled weapons on the Daloren gendarmerie station in the province’s Hozat district. Security forces then responded to the attack, the source added.
The injured soldiers were taken to Elazig Firat University Hospital, while the civilian was taken to Tunceli State Hospital.
An operation was also launched in the area to nab the attackers.
The 30-year conflict between the PKK and the Turkish state was resumed in July 2015, after a ceasefire collapsed.
Since then, over 600 security personnel,and more than 7,000 PKK militants have been killed in operations across Turkey and northern Iraq.
